Skeeter was born 22 August, 2022 in Adelaide, South Australia at Ashmiyah Bengal Cats.

I have always had dogs but had never owned a cat before Skeeter. I wanted a cat for a long time but we had dogs and I was concerned that our high drive malinois Envy would want to eat a cat if we got one.

I don't know why but the urge to get a cat got stronger and I found myself thinking about it all of the time. I got really excited when I met cats or saw them at the shelter or at the adoption area in Petbarn.

I'd heard about the Bengal breed and I knew that if I was going to get a cat, this breed was at the top of my list. I was drawn to their cheeky spirit, beautiful coat and wild look.

I put it off for two more years and during that time I consumed every bit of information I could about the Bengal cat breed. I think I watched every bengal cat youtube video out there!

I had followed Skeeter's breeder for a while and one day I thought, "I'll just call her for a chat. I don't have to commit to anything..."

Well Lee spoke to me for over an hour and by the end of the conversation, Lee said she thinks I'd make a great home and that I should do it. I put my name on the list!

A month or so later, Skeeter's litter was born and I watched his photos and videos as he grew. 13 weeks later, he caught two flights to finally land in our home town.

I will never forget the night we picked him up from the airport. I cried of happiness!

I am still obsessed to this day.

And the dog? I never would have thought it, but they're best of friends. A match made in heaven with two mischievous personalities. Envy even lets Skeeter win.
